Group Blog (The second half!)

Now, the important part.. who am i going to work with? I haven’t quite decided. It’s a tricky process, and it’s a bit hard to decide because you may have too much or too little. I think i’m going to work alone for this project and see how things smooth out. Why? I think having myself to rely on and being solely responsible is important. I want my work to be a product of the effort I put into it. As much as i would need other people for potential actors, which is why i’m considering 1 or 2 more teammates, I am mostly set on working myself. I really want to see the creative things i can come up with when there’s no one else to lean on. It’s something that can really be produced by me. I want to make myself proud, kind of like one of those indie films. Those are very creative and intricate, and i find it amazing how one single person can manage so much. It’s very inspiring. Will it be hard work? I don’t know, but it’ll definitely be an experience worth keeping. For now though, i do intend to work with myself. I’m experienced in editing too, so maybe i can make up for my cinematic shortcomings with better editing? It’ll be great directing, storyboarding, and maybe even acting? (if i can figure out how to do that by myself...) Regardless of what the future has to come regarding my film, i still want to make an enjoyable, cinematic film that is a product of my own hard work. I’m definitely looking forward to this process. I don’t think i’ll dislike any of it! Especially in the final task, i want to make something i am proud of based on my own work. I want to see how far i can go and this will be an enjoyable experience for that!

The second half! Intro Blog

Hello! As i've said before My name is Gregory Bradley, and I am currently halfway through my AS level experience in AICE Media Studies. I decided to try out this class, as I was hearing from many people that it could be interesting. I also am a very avid watcher of movies. Horror movies are a great choice of mine, though nightmares do happen... I'm a junior in high school, 17 years old now since my birthday was in October... I usually am too invested in trying to get free time to worry about anything else. When I'm not playing a video game due to boredom, or editing some video, I'm usually invested in schoolwork. I have a huge family that has a lot of roots from many different parts of the world! I like all kinds of foods, and I'm not picky though, I enjoy trying out new things, and this is another thing I've decided to invest time into. I'm very lazy though, I'd rather lay around. If there's one thing I enjoy about work though, is the outcome. I find it amazing when something you've worked hard for finally comes to light. I feel like when it comes to work though, I'd rather rely on myself more than others, and try and make it to the best of my ability! Otherwise, I just focus on work until I don't have to, and have fun while I'm doing it! I do miss work that has a lot of meaning and is engaging and fun, And going through this class definitely allowed me to be the best version of myself through my film. I'm not a huge fan of classes filled with hardcore note-taking. I do prefer to work alone, though, and that's fine, but I really do try to hold my work to a high standard as well as myself. I'm mostly a quiet person, but I can definitely hold a conversation if needed. Overall, I'm really looking forward to the second half of Media Studies, and i'm really excited to start my final task and be able to put my skills to work!

My Music Video!

Today is the day guys! There were a lot of things i couldn't do due to constraints in weather, or overall surroundings but i managed to find a good backup plan and ended up making things even better and even more engaging than they were! I really enjoyed making this music video overall. I hope to do more things like this in the future! Hopefully i can plan something else for next year.. One thing to improve i'd say is my camera skills. I should learn how to be more firm with it. Since this was a one man job, i actually ended up recording myself (and ended up riding with one hand while filming the bike segments!!!) But overall it was okay. I hope to do something like this again in the future!

Finishing Touches!

Today i put the final touches on my music video. I decided that everything was well and in place regarding my vision and what i wanted. I think it was successful in the sense that it did the job well in explaining what i wanted in the video and what i got. It's pretty good, or at least i think so. I'd have a bit of fun doing most of the editing myself, but like everything else it took time. I did this little pseudo-recording method where i held my phone on my bike and made sure my arms were visible. It was a bit ineffective but it otherwise worked. I say it went well regardless. The hardest part of editing i'd say was getting the cuts exactly right. I didn't really understand the typical music video conventions at first, being not used to this kind of video, but i figured that i wanted to go against it. I wanted to make something different than the usual, and that was my goal. I ended up succeeding somewhat. It went surprisingly well and i didn't have much of a problem. It was as smooth as it can be! I only hope that my future projects are this smooth... .But otherwise i had a great time doing it. I plan on doing a bit more, though, it'll depend. The project can change after this state if i find anything better i can do with it. That's the wonder of technology! I really do like doing this kind of thing. I only hope our next project will be this fun! Overall, i was happy i had an opportunity to do this, and be able to express myself in my own medium of video. I'll catch up with you all later, when the video is done! I hope you enjoy it.

Editing... On a budget!

Today was my first day of editing. You would originally be surprised to hear this though... I didn't quite want to use too many effects for this video. My reasoning behind this was more to keep the natural essence of the video. I wanted it to be as pure and untouched as possible in the sense that it properly displays how things are. It's important for the video as it means a lot, and i think it may towards the viewer. I will have to add a few regular effects, though, as it isn't seamless and has to be cut. I have to make sure these segments are smooth as possible too. I think it's going well, though. Unfortunately, the only huge effect i have to add is the rain in the editing process. I do not like biking in rain, unfortunately! And it would be more dangerous to do so while recording at the same time. I had to make sure i prioritized the safety of myself and others. I made sure that it worked out. Otherwise, i'd say editing is going very well. It's all coming together, and the combination of the song and the editing makes it something i can be proud of. I don't think i'll need much more editing from this point on. If i do, i'll probably let all of you know! It's very important that i keep you guys up to date with everything. I'll make sure everything will be good regarding the editing and the video as a whole. I'll be catching up with you guys next time, and remember to keep riding on!

A new day (and a new recording!)

Today i decided to finish the other half of my storyboard. It was a bit tough, but i ended up making it through with the time i had. It actually started raining hard, so that was a big knot in my overall recording. I ended up thinking a bit more about what i was gonna do next and how i was gonna do it. Some of the things i wanted to do may not have taken a lot of time to plan for others... but it did for me. Nevertheless, i still got most of it done. I decided to focus on a new medium of transport though, walking! My bike was having trouble... I ended up having to resort to something else to show for it. It looked kind of lazy at first, though, so i decided to make it more engaging and insightful by finding things, picking up things, that sort of thing. It ended up working relatively well, so i decided to keep at it. It looked good, this wasn't meant to be your typical music video anyway... It was more like an experimental one. I liked it, though! After most of the recording i had to make one big decision. I should have planned this earlier though.. Where exactly was my endpoint? I figured it should be simple to symbolize the whole 'journey is more than the destination' thing. I opted for a simple store! It was also a bit ironic, which helped the overall humor and lightheartedness of it all. All of that effort for a store? Is what i wanted everyone to think. Then they understand the symbolism of actually getting there. That's my overall goal with this. I think it's safe to say that i'm finally reaching a closing point for my video!

WIllow's Walk: The Film

Here it is! I had so much fun making this film and I hope to have more opportunities to do this in the future!
