Sprite's Out! A bit too out....

Today i worked on my project with one other person, and i'll say... I bought a lot of sprite for the occasion! I figured, since it was cheap, simple, and easy to utilize. I wanted to make the project really fun, and make sure that it went smoothly. Turns out though, a lot of my storyboard was changed. For example, i decided to make the first shot a picture of my friend grabbing a sprite out the vending machine, and looking at it in happiness. I figured this would introduce the sprite a lot better and get the audience to understand that they could get it from anywhere! Next, i decided to go side by side with the storyboard. Let's just say i bought a lot of sprite.. We threw around one for commercial effect, but then we wondered how we would end up getting to that point in the first place? I still have to figure that out. The next part was pretty fun, though. We depicted a story about a boy and his sprite, and it just coming back to him when he needs it most. Depending on the time, i'd really like to make this ad special. Then, some people came over, and you know, just like the ads, we gave them some sprite! We ended up recording together and finding a place to put them into the actual commercial.
Overall it was a great time i had spent. We had a lot of fun recording, and surprisingly it didn't take as long as i expected it to. I really thought that the 30 seconds would be hard, but a lot of my shots ended up passing that, so now i have to work on either shorter segments, or edits/cuts.
I tried a lot of camera techniques as well! I did a lot of panning, and i did utilize a lot of zooms when it came to it. Tilts and tracking shots were also an integral part of my shooting. For some reason, i also decided to add a first person shot, and i have to decide on whether i'll use it or not. A lot of funny things also managed to happen today during recording... pro tip... Make sure to open sprite SLOWLY... Overall, i had an excellent time. I thought that everything we did was meaningful and full of character! From here on out, we'll see how things go.

Storyboard Blog

The first part of my storyboard involves the camera zooming in to the Sprite. I want it to where the sprite is many different ones, but if that is out of the question, i may just decide to use a singular one, and swivel it to really point the sprite out amongst the other items. The main goal of this part is to set the Sprite apart from the rest of the environment. I plan on making sure the audience understands what kind of ad this is, and for what item, from the beginning. The second part involves a cool little part where i throw the Sprite and it goes to a random location. This is also visualzied by zooming in or out, or panning to where the Sprite lands. It's really there as a transitional phase in order to introduce people into the ad this way. I find it to be very playful, and fun, to express this sprite in such a light and carefree way. This is the main goal of the ad. The third slide is the end of the transitional phase, where the sprite falls next to someone's foot. It's there to really show the discovery of the Sprite. It's going to be another cut between the throwing and the sprite itself. It'll be really cool to see the Sprite interact with someone this way, and discover the rich, warm taste. It'll be fun to see how other people react to this part! The fourth slide involves someone picking it up, and drinking it! It shows the desire to drink this Sprite. I'll also have many others involved too, cutting into different locations, where different people are drinking sprite. It'll show how many people like it, and how unique it is in the way it's displayed. It can also tell people that Sprite is for everyone! I really want to have fun with this part. It's important to stress these values. The fifth slide involves a bunch of people together, just being all happy with their drinks, and conversing. This will show another aspect of the drink. It's nature to bring people together! I feel like warm, feel-good values are also an important aspect of the commercial. It gives the audience the idea that this drink IS DIFFERENT! Sprite is not only good at tasting great, but it's also good at bringing people together, their values, different cultures! And finally, the video will zoom out from the soda, and show the illustrious Sprite logo. The thing that brought everyone together. And then this is where the commercial ends! It'll be a very fitting ending, as it'll remind people what the commercial was about, leave that feel-good value in their minds. Maybe they'll buy a Sprite later!

Planning Blog

Props Since I decided to do a Sprite commercial, our best- and most important prop is the Sprite itself! Other props will not really be needed, as i plan on captivating our audience with the singular sprite, and trying to make it more engaging. The sprite is the prime focus here! I plan on buying sprites in multiple flavors too to outline maybe the taste or energy it gives. Costumes No costumes will be needed. Regular clothes are fine, as i wish to engage the audience by the sprite and not necesscarily the actor. Color/Lighting I want my commercial to be really bright and colorful. Acting Usually only positions where people are drinking it, or catching it/drinking it is needed. Not much acting as i wanna focus on the bottle itself. Makeup Little to no makeup is needed. Editing I really want to go wild with the editing to bring out the full potential of the sprite. I want to emphasize the bottle, the drink, and make it look really appealing to the audience. Schedule On 9/23/21, our group will research codes, and conventions of the commercial On 9/29/21, We will create storyboards, mapping out our process. On 9/29/21, we will deal with the props, costumes, location, and if things go wrong, alternate locations. On 10/1/21 and 10/5/21 filming will happen. On 10/7/21 and 10/11/21, we will edit and finalize the commercial. Location List The lunch tables/the cafeteria, to possibly appeal to students. I want it to be like an engaging, homey commercial. Backup Plan If the weather isn't good, i can record in the media center, or maybe in the Cafeteria. If one member is absent, it isn't serious, as i am the only one in my group! I will end up recording another time.

I am planning on doing a commercial for a soda or soft drink, preferably Sprite. The audience usually sees a really cool design, or effects and such around the drink, accompnied by a person drinking it. Usually, people are wearing regular, old fashioned clothes. I believe it signifies that Sprite is a soda for everyone! Props are usually just dependent on the location itself, whether it be inside a house, or at a school. But the most important prop of them all is the Sprite itself! The commercials can be either slow or fast-paced due to the possibilities when it comes to actually advertising the soft drink. It's really up to the advertisers regarding how creative they can be. 1. Normal codes that differentiate this soda from others are naturally the smooth logo and the colors. These colors tend to be very light and positive in comparison to other drinks. 2. In this particular one, the colors are always shown in the ad, or themed around the actual color itself. The sprite logo is always there to let you know what you're viewing. 3. These ads really do utilize famous people, embracing a lot of ethos. One frequent person to go to is Basketball Star Lebron James. He has appeared in about 2 of their ads!

Group Blog

Now, the important part.. who am i going to work with? I haven’t quite decided. It’s a tricky process, and it’s a bit hard to decide because you may have too much or too little. I think i’m going to work alone for this project and see how things smooth out. Why? I think having myself to rely on and being solely responsible is important. I want my work to be a product of the effort I put into it. As much as i would need other people for potential actors, which is why i’m considering 1 or 2 more teammates, I am mostly set on working myself. I really want to see the creative things i can come up with when there’s no one else to lean on. It’s something that can really be produced by me. I want to make myself proud, kind of like one of those indie films. Those are very creative and intricate, and i find it amazing how one single person can manage so much. It’s very inspiring. Will it be hard work? I don’t know, but it’ll definitely be an experience worth keeping. For now though, i do intend to work with myself. I’m experienced in editing too, so maybe i can make up for my cinematic shortcomings with better editing? It’ll be great directing, storyboarding, and maybe even acting? (if i can figure out how to do that by myself...) Regardless of what the future has to come regarding my film, i still want to make an enjoyable, cinematic film that is a product of my own hard work. I’m definitely looking forward to this process. I don’t think i’ll dislike any of it!

Intro Blog

Hello! My name is Gregory Bradley, and I am going through my AS level experience in AICE Media Studies. I decided to try out this class, as I was hearing from many people that it could be interesting. I also am a very avid watcher of movies. Horror movies are a great choice of mine, though nightmares do happen... I'm a junior in high school, 16 years old to be exact. I usually am too invested in trying to get free time to worry about anything else. When I'm not playing a video game due to boredom, or editing some video, I'm usually invested in schoolwork. I have a huge family that has a lot of roots from many different parts of the world! I like all kinds of foods, and I enjoy  I'm not picky though, I enjoy trying out new things, and this is another thing I've decided to invest time into. I'm very lazy though, I'd rather lay around. If there's one thing I enjoy about work though, is the outcome. I find it amazing when something you've worked hard for finally comes to light. I feel like when it comes to work though, I'd rather rely on myself more than others, and try and make it to the best of my ability! Otherwise, I just focus on work until I don't have to, and have fun while I'm doing it! I do miss work that has a lot of meaning and is engaging and fun, so with this class I hope that I can definitely enjoy it. I'm not a huge fan of classes filled with hardcore note-taking. I do prefer to work alone, though, and that's fine, but I really do try to hold my work to a high standard as well as myself. I'm mostly a quiet person, but I can definitely hold a conversation if needed. Overall, I'm really looking forward to taking this class, and hopefully making a lot of new friends along the way.

WIllow's Walk: The Film

Here it is! I had so much fun making this film and I hope to have more opportunities to do this in the future!
